Celebrating Women in Construction

It's hard to believe that I've been working in the construction industry for more than thirty years. For those of you unfamiliar with the backstory, my career began working as a Civil Engineer, then a Project Manager, and a business owner. Some years later that evolved into Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. A Royalist said, "The Crown always finds its way to the right head." My sentiments exactly! My role, as an advocate for DEI, and for Women in Contruction, found its way to the right person.

Last night the Minority Construction Council hosted their Annual Women in Construction Event at the District in New Haven, Connecticut. Let me tell you, the vibe in this room was electric and contagious! Throughout the course of my career, I've been blessed to encounter, to partner, to mentor, and to collaborate with some incredibly talented women. But this group of ladies, raised the bar. They push boundaries, set new trends, and remove barriers. They support one another, they celebrate one another, they encourage one another. They are not afraid to ask questions, they are not afraid to be vocal and loud.

Ladies, it's an honor to be your friend and colleague. Let's continue to move the needle, raise that bar and celebrate one another.

Strength in numbers, find your tribe. Straighten someone else's crown.

Girls can do anything.

Women can do anything.
