Some days are good and some days not. But we walk things off and shake things off as best we can.
That said, quick post. Today we advanced hose line in groups of four-(C-Squad) through three sets of traffic cones to reach the target cone and knock it down. After we flanked the hose line and took our respective positions (crawling-not standing) we were timed through the course. If we hit a cone (other than the target) or knocked one down, we lost points. First round for C-Squad was awful, I was disqualified. So that left me feeling defeated. I disappointed myself, my squad and spent ten minutes talking myself out of my head. Second and third rounds we crushed it down to under a minute.
A few key take aways:
Situational Awareness.
Check your gear, your squad's gear.
If you are at a door stay to the side, control it.
Don't open it until you are set with a charged line.
Burp it. Check the pressure before moving forward.
Stay low.
Look for kinks.
We've got some down time for a week but then, we are hitting it hard. The end is near.
Many thanks to my squad, Steve, Ang, and Henry for talking me out of my head. We nailed it on the last two rounds. Love you guys!
Onward.
